Curly fries in the air fryer are the best way to get crispy curly fries quickly! Made in just 12 minutes, these are ready in no time.
No more waiting for the oven to preheat just to end up with partially soggy, partially over-cooked fries. By using the air fryer to make curly fries, they cook up evenly crispy and golden brown, every single time.

What Do Curly Fries Taste Like?
Curly fries taste very similar to regular-cut potato fries. However, your fries have a larger outside surface area due to the fun curly shape, so if you love crunchy fries, curly fries give you plenty of golden, crispy outsides with delicious hot insides.
Usually, curly fries have the potato skins removed, so you are eating just the inside flesh of the potato. Curly fries are spiral cut, so your fries look like fun spiral-shaped potatoes!
How Are Curly Fries Made?
Curly fries are made using a spiralizer; a machine that cuts the potato on an angle so that a spiral shape is formed.
What Seasonings Are Best for Curly Fries?
If you’re like me, you love fries no matter how they come, but you can add seasonings before or after making your fries to give some variety to the flavor. Just sprinkle seasoning over the fries before cooking, or while they’re hot, as soon as they come out of the oven. Here are some of my favorite seasonings for curly fries:
- Salt and pepper
- Seasoning salt
- Old Bay Seasoning
- Rosemary
- Herbes de Provence
What Can I Dip Curly Fries In?
What are the best dips for curly fries? There are plenty more options than just ketchup for dipping your curly fries (although ketchup is delicious!). Here are a few of our favorites:
- BBQ sauce
- Mayo
- Garlic aioli
- Honey mustard
- Plum sauce
- Ranch dressing

How To Make Air Fryer Curly Fries
STEP ONE: Prep the curly fries. Place about 1/2 a bag of curly fries onto the wire rack of the air fryer or into the air fryer basket.
STEP TWO: Air Fry. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Cook for 6 minutes, flip, then cook for an additional 6 minutes.
STEP THREE: Serve hot alongside your favorite dips and sauces.
Notes and Helpful Hints:
- Leave space between your curly fries in the air fryer. This helps make sure all the sides are exposed to the heat and can get equally hot and golden brown.
- Season your curly fries before cooking for extra flavor. Lightly spray them with cooking oil, then shake salt or your favorite seasoning over top.
- Check for doneness by making sure your fries don’t have white spots on them before taking them out of the air fryer. You might have to give them a flip or a little stir to make sure all the sides are cooked evenly.
How to Store Leftover Curly Fries
In the fridge – Store leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
In the freezer – You won’t want to re-freeze cooked curly fries. They won’t thaw very well and will have a soggy texture.
How to reheat – You can place your fries back in the air fryer at 360 for 6-7 minutes. You can also microwave them for 1-2 minutes, but they might be a bit soggy.
FAQs
Your fries are probably soggy because they didn’t cook long enough. Try leaving them in the oven or air fryer for a few more minutes. Give them another flip or stir if needed.
Yes, you can cut your own fries. You will need a spiralizer and large russet potatoes. First, you’ll need to peel your potatoes, then you’ll need to wash them well. Finally, you can use your spiralizer to cut your potatoes into spirals.
We think air-fried curly fries are really delicious! But if you want that fast food flavor, your fries will need to be fried in oil. If you don’t want to completely fry your curly fries, you can try this method: Fully cook your fries in the air fryer. While they’re cooking, slowly heat up a few inches of oil in a cast iron or large, deep skillet. You’ll want your oil to be about 375 degrees. Once your curly fries are finished cooking, drop them in small batches in the hot oil for about 30-45 seconds. You don’t want them to overcook; you just want the outside to get a bit crispy from the hot oil.
