Learn how to make frozen tater tots in a Ninja air fryer in just a few simple steps. Using an air fryer to make tater tots saves time and results in crispy tater tots every time!
We love our Ninja air fryer because it helps us free up the oven to cook other foods that pair well with tater tots, like chicken nuggets!
Are Tater Tots Gluten Free?
MOST tater tots are gluten-free. The Ore-Ida brand Tater Tots (my favorites) are clearly labeled gluten-free. If you need to make sure you don’t consume gluten, make sure you buy a brand that has a gluten-free label, or that says they’re made from 100% potatoes.
Can Tater Tots Be Substituted for Hash Browns?
It’s our opinion that Tater Tots are best served with dinner and true hash browns should be served with breakfast. But in all reality, both are similar; they’re made from grated potatoes that are shaped and fried to have a golden crust. They taste very similar too, so certainly, you can serve Tater Tots at breakfast instead of hash browns.
What to Serve with Tater Tots
You can serve almost anything with Tater Tots! Of course, this quick Tater Tots recipe is perfect on nights when you’re making other fast foods like chicken fingers, burgers, or grilled cheese.
What Should I Dip Tater Tots In?

- BBQ Sauce
- Honey mustard
- Hot sauce
- Mayonnaise
- Garlic aioli

- If you want to give your Tater Tots some extra flavor, season them before cooking by lightly spraying them with cooking oil, then sprinkling them with your favorite seasoning.
- If you need to cook more than one batch of Tater Tots, keep these hot in a serving dish covered with foil while the next batch cooks.
- Give your Tater Tots space! Try not to stack them so they can cook evenly on all sides.
How to Store Leftover Tater Tots
In the fridge – You can store your leftover Tater Tots in your refrigerator in a covered container for up to 3 days.
In the freezer – I don’t recommend re-freezing Tater Tots. They won’t reheat well and will be soggy.
How to reheat – Reheat your Tater Tots by placing them in the air fryer at 360 for 6-7 minutes. You can microwave them for a few minutes as well, however, they will probably be a bit soggy instead of crispy on the outside.
