Homemade air fryer pizza is really easy to make. With just pizza dough, mozzarella cheese, and marinara sauce, air frying homemade pizza results in a crispy crust and delicious flavor!
You are in for a treat! Air fryer pizza is amazing! Why? Because not only does the air fryer make personal pizzas using fresh ingredients, but you get amazing flavor and a perfectly crispy – but not too crispy – crust that’s really difficult to get in a traditional oven.
Why is Air Fryer Pizza So Good?
Because the air fryer circulates the hot air more efficiently than your regular oven, the crust cooks much more evenly. Your pizzas also cook much quicker than in the oven as well.
Maybe the best part is that everyone gets their own personal air fried pizza! You can customize these to each person’s liking, making pizza night extra fun!
What Toppings Can I Put on Air Fryer Pizza?
Any toppings you would normally put on pizza can go on air fryer pizza! But because the crust and cheese cook much quicker in the air fryer, there are a few rules.
- Less is more. If you like margarita pizza (just tomato sauce and cheese), that will serve you well.
- Pepperoni pizza cooks wonderfully.
- If you want to use other meats like bacon or ham, make sure they are pre-cooked. If they are a bit warm before adding them to your pizza, that can help them get hotter as they cook.
- You may prefer veggies like mushrooms, onions, and peppers be pre-cooked as they won’t have the chance to soften much in the air fryer.
- Any cheese or spices you enjoy on pizza can go in the air fryer and can be added before or after cooking.

How to Make Homemade Pizza in the Air Fryer
STEP ONE: Prep the crust. Divide the pizza dough into 4 dough balls. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the pizza dough into your desired crust thickness.
STEP TWO: Prep the air fryer. Place a piece of parchment paper onto the air fryer rack. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F.
STEP THREE: Air Fry. Add the pizza crust on top of the parchment paper. Depending on the size of the crust you will fit one or two crusts and need to cook them in batches. Cook the dough for 3 minutes.
STEP FOUR: Top the pizza dough. Spread about 3 tablespoons of marinara sauce on the dough, then top with mozzarella slices. You can take the crust out to do this or leave it in the air fryer. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serve. Serve hot topped with fresh mozzarella and crushed red pepper flakes.
Tips and Helpful Notes:
- When making this pizza, make sure the pizza dough is at room temperature. It will stretch better and cook up lighter and fluffier.
- Make your mozzarella slices about 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick. The pre-sliced fresh mozzarella you can buy at the grocery store works perfectly!
- For some extra flavor, add freshly cracked sea salt and pepper over the top of your pizza before serving.
FAQs
Your pizza should be done when the cheese has melted and begins to get brown and bubbly.
You can add pepperoni, bacon, ham, sausage, bell pepper, onion, mushrooms, jalapenos, pineapple, parmesan, olives, fresh tomato, oregano, or anything else you like on pizza.
Besides fresh mozzarella, you can use shredded mozzarella. Italian blend and cheddar/mozzarella blend are also a delicious addition.
Take the pizza dough out of the fridge at least an hour before you want to make your pizza. Allow it to rest on a cutting board with a clean towel overtop of it. It will likely rise a little. You want your dough to be at room temperature. After you’ve shaped your crust, lightly brush it with oil. Don’t add too much! You want your crust to be dry as it bakes so all the moisture inside the crust can escape.
How to Reheat Pizza
The best way I’ve found to reheat pizza is to preheat your oven or air fryer to 350 degrees, wrap the pizza in tin foil, then place the leftovers inside. Allow the pizza to heat up for 7-8 minutes.
